The Book of James: The author of this letter is James, the brother of Jesus Christ.
Mark 6 Jesus returned to Nazareth, his hometown. Then they scoffed, “He’s just a carpenter, the son of Mary and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas, and Simon. And his sisters live right here among us.” They were deeply offended and refused to believe in him.
James was not a believer (John 7:5 For even his brothers didn’t believe in him.) until after the resurrection (Acts 1:14; 1 Corinthians 15:7; Galatians 1:19). He became the head of the Jerusalem church and is mentioned first as a pillar of the church (Galatians 2:9).
